Sure, who doesn't? Well, maybe not everyone does. But everyone loves sweet prizes! And for the ToF Logo Design Contest, we've set y'all up with the sweetest!

We're looking for a new logo (cuz that Celtic dragon has breathed his brim-stoney last!) and want you to help us git branded for Season Six. So let your imagination run wild! And though we can't tell you what to do, we'd appreciate it if you relegated things like "microphones" and "actual fire/smoke" to the graphical back-burner. See? It's actually quite a challenge! But we know you're good for it.

Post your design ideas to the Wall of this event. Or send them to toflogodesigncontest@gmail.com. Or just bring hardcopy to one of our amiable hosts at a Tongues of Fire show between now and the show on April 22! We'll take everything from super-complex photoshop genius bombs to something you doodled on a napkin in a fit of inspiration. We'll pick a winner from the submissions. Don't worry, we'll know it when we see it.

The Future!!! (Or At Least the Next 3 Months...)

It's difficult to grok, we know, but consider: after Shannon Rayne refreshes the Solstice next Thursday, there's only THREE MONTHS LEFT of Tongues of Fire Season Five! That's only six shows before the poetic dry spell that is a Victoria summer (though we're working on other things to make that period palatable)... so here's a little preview of the features that will be taking us to the inevitable climax. So to speak.

March 11: local storyteller and musician Michael J McCarthy will be joining us for the last installment of our Aboriginal Showcase Series. Michael is Nuu-chah-nulth from Ucluelet. His Nuu-chah-nulth name is Chees Qualth and he will be bringing us his flute, his non-traditional poetry, and stories about his gramma.

March 25: Magpie Ulysses. You know what's awesome? We can type out her name and that's pretty much all we need do. Magpie Ulysses. Magpie Ulysses! Magpie Ulysses!!

April 8: the Space Cowboy will be touching down in Victoria this day... Steve Miller. Bring sunscreen, 's gonna get bright in here.

April 22: Nathanael Larochette, all the way from Eastern Canada. A legend.

May 13: this is the penultimate ToF show. We know who's featuring but we're gonna keep it under wraps for now due to it's potent sweetness.

May 27: FINAL SHOW! See listing for May 13, then multiply by ten. This one's not under wraps, it's in a lead-lined box at the bottom of the Inner Harbour. Excitement!
